“We use to play pretend” Twenty One Pilots.
We grew up. We all did. We all do. But what does growing up have to mean? When is the last time you felt like a child? The last time you got giddy and excited over something that might seem silly to others?
As we get to a certain age we are assumed to act a certain way. Go to college. Get a job. Start a family. Buy a house. Get a new car. Save for retirement. So on & so on & so on. Nothing is wrong with any of these, right? It only becomes wrong if you are doing them because you feel like you have to. What is right for one person is not right for everyone. So find what makes YOU happy. It may be all those things or it may be being single and adventurous for the rest of your life. It may be a combination of these things. There is no right or wrong answer.
I’m a teacher and yesterday I went out on the playground with my kids. I jumped up on the bars that you turn flips on. I know you remember those, right? Flipping over it felt way better than I imagined. It reminded me that I don’t take nearly enough time for little moments like that. It also put the biggest smile on my kids’ faces.
So I challenge you, if anyone is reading, to go out this week and do at least one thing that makes you feel like a kid again. Swing on a swing set, have a tea party, run through a sprinkler, pretend to make a meal out of random things like sticks and dirt, jump on your bed…any other ideas out there?
So part of being a Mur(wo)man, doing what makes you happy..no matter how silly it may make you look.

In a world full of humans, be a Mur(wo)man.
